Charlie Cloos

Companion Rider

Charlie Cloos has been working with racehorses for most of his life. A track rider in his younger days, he has spent many years as a track work supervisor at Darwin’s Fannie Bay racecourse.  He loves thoroughbred horses, although there have been some cracked ribs over the years as the result of falls.

Charlie says he has been lucky enough to ride some of the better horses in Australian trackwork, including Kingston Town and Gunsynd, both of whom won places in the Cox Plate and the Melbourne Cup. He has also spent time overseas in the horse world, educating people in how race barriers work, in Macau; the Philippines, and Dubai.
